Cool T-shirt Design

It may come as a surprise to some, but for the hipster crowd, the t-shirt has long been considered an art form. It’s the one garment that can be made to work with almost any choice of outfit. For those with any sense of fashion, the t-shirt can be a way to express political leanings, personal quirks, or just about any other portion of the personality of the wearer infinitely better than a button-down shirt and tie ever could.

Of course, not everyone has the time needed to comb through every single thrift store, online retailer, and out-of-the-way boutique to find that one shirt with that one perfect logo or slogan that gets you noticed… and remembered. The people over at Cool T-Shirt Design in the UK knew this, and that’s why they put together an online resource to find, categorize and catalog all that’s worth owning in the world of t-shirts.

From 1980s icons (Star Wars, Nintendo, and the Ghostbusters) to you-won’t-belive-it-until-you-see-it mashups such as the Muppets and A Clockwork Orange (yes – on the same shirt), Cool T-Shirt Design finds and celebrates every design that’s worth owning. From straight-up vintage awesomeness to wild, visual interpretations of hilarious puns, they have it all. So, if you’re feeling the sudden need to express your enthusiasm for cassette tapes, Darth Vader or classic movie monsters, do yourself a favor and head over to Cool T-Shirt Desgin’s website right away.

Whole Planet Design

Think back to the last time a friend asked you for a loan. How much was it? 20? 50? 100? Was it so they could take someone special out to a nice dinner? Perhaps it was so they could pick up a pair of concert tickets. Or, maybe they were a little short and needed to make rent for the month. You had a little extra money, so you loaned it to your friend, helped them out, and eventually they paid you back. It felt pretty good to help someone, didn’t it?

The Whole Planet Foundation lends a helping hand every day. An initiative created by Whole Foods Market, the foundation makes a difference worldwide by providing microloans to members of the communities which supply Whole Foods Market with their products. The same small amount you might loan to a friend can end up turning a life around in developing parts of the world. Instead of a night on the town, the money goes to help people start a business. Through these microloans, the foundation makes a permanent, lasting difference not just for these individuals, but for their whole communities.

Right now, the Whole Planet Foundation is sponsoring a contest until March 12 to design a t-shirt that raises awareness not only of their cause but of the entrepreneurs they’re helping on a global scale. The winning design will be sold through Threadless, and part of the proceeds will go directly to help these same entrepreneurs. So, get creative – the first prize if $750, and the contest runs until March 12.

The weird world of Threadless

If you’ve ever created a t-shirt design, shopped for an online t-shirt or seen a design that was just out of this world, you’ve seen Threadless.  They are a very popular online t-shirt company that gives it’s users the opportunity to create their own designs and sell them for profit.  They regularly hold various contests and competitions, but this one is just weird.

Would you like to win $2000 for a t-shirt design?  I would!  There is only one rule, it has to be very strange, out of the ordinary and unlike anything anyone has ever seen before.  Go into the deep recesses of your mind and pull out that strange idea, creature, design or phrase that you’ve never brought to light and show it off on a cool design for people to vote on.  Check out some of the already submitted designs if you want some inspiration.

Some of the other prizes are a $500 Threadless gift certificate that can be redeemed for $200 cash, the Bathroom Book of Cat Trivia, Air Swimmers remote control inflatable flying shark and a video of members of the Threadstaff sitting in a circle brushing each other’s hair.  Some strange prizes for a weird contest, but of course, it all goes with the theme.

President’s Day Tees

President’s Day may have passed but there are still some awesome tees you can grab that look great.  Whoever your favorite Prez is of all time, we got one just for you.  The most popular seem to be George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Regan.  What better way can you think of celebrating your former Presidents and being an American than by wearing them.

The reason that President’s Day is in February is because President Washington’s birthday is in February, right before Lincoln’s.  His leadership, quote on not being able to tell a lie and just the fact that he’s the first President (and on the front of the $1 bill) definitely gives him lots of fame.

If you can’t decide on which one to choose from (Lincoln or Washington) there’s a very cool and retro tee from Chop Shop that shows them giving a high five in the air as 8-bit video game characters.  Classic.

Another design that really makes a statement is one that says “I want you to end the fed!”.  Why do they want to end the fed, I don’t know, but that’s what they want.  There’s another one of President Ronald Regan that says “W.W.R.D.” copying the famous saying “What would Jesus do?” to “What would Regan do?”.

There’s something for everyone here, and even if President’s Day has passed, there’s still the coming elections, primaries and all sorts of political events going on where you can rock your Prez tee.

Win a free T-shirt!

Liverpool Tees is giving away t-shirts to two winners who participate in their contest.  These are great looking custom t-shirts that represent Football (or soccer in the United States) and have become popular because of the recent Support Suarez tees worn by the Liverpool squad against their match with Fulham.

If you participate and answer a few questions, you could win a t-shirt from one of the best Football teams in the UK.  These questions have to do with the squads or the competition they are playing in.  Those that live in the UK will be able to get their shirts before the start of the coming League Cup at Wembley, if you don’t, then you will probably receive it after the game with Cardiff.

Hurry and answer the questions below soon before the contest is over.  You can e-mail your answers to:  liverpool@theoffside.com

1) In the 1907-1908 season, Liverpool and Brighton drew 1-1 in the 2nd round of the FA Cup, with the Reds winning the replay 3-0. Who were the two Liverpool players responsible for Liverpool’s four goals?

2) Two former Liverpool men were involved on the Brighton side when they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in the 1982-1983 season. Who were they?

3) A year later Brighton knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup again, this time with a 2-0 victory at the Goldstone Ground in the 1983-1984 season. Who is the other club to have put Liverpool out of the competition in two straight seasons?

4) How many times have the two sides met in all competitions, and what’s the overall record?

5) When Liverpool last won the FA Cup in the 2005-2006 season, they faced Manchester United in the 5th round and won 1-0 on a Peter Crouch header. Name the players involved that day that are still with their respective clubs.

Topshop Designer Fashion

There’s a huge buzz going on in the UK when it comes to fashion (t-shirts included!).  Topshop, a huge retailer, got together with the Britain Fashion Council to form NEWGEN, which shows off new designers every fashion week and now they are releasing limited edition t-srhits made by some of London’s greatest fashion creators.

Don’t expect anything cheap, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill t-shirt.  We are talking about designers and London.  When you put those two words in the same sentence, you can expect to spend some money.  Each tee is being sold for $48 and each one is unique in it’s own way.  Your going to want to get them all because they are so different, nothing is out in stores that are similar.

One of the tees has an amazing abstract design on a black colored t-shirt.  It looks like a heart with various colors and symbols crossing over each other, giving it the personality of a work of art.  Another creative piece has two lips sipping on what looks like the Chrysler Building from New York City with two other smaller skyscrapers.  Two other t-shirts for ladies have some very pretty patterns, one has a light and dark blue overlap which look great together and the other has beautiful patterns all across the blouse.

Mr. Bean T-shirts

Finally, for the over 17 million Mr. Bean fans on Facebook, there are now official Mr. Bean t-shirts.  One of the most popular TV series in history is now available on great looking tees that your going to want to grab.

Spreadshirt, who is a large mult-brand clothing company, got the rights to produce them from Zodiak Rights who are the licensing agents for Mr. Bean.  They are owned by Tiger Aspect Productions Ltd.  First airing in 1990 and starred by Rowan Atkinson, there were only 14 episodes made.  It’s since then sold to 245 territories worldwide and has won an international Emmy and the Golden Rose of Montreux.  You can do a lot with a little it seems.

They are being sold on the Mr. Bean Facebook page here and you can even customize the shirt to your liking with different designs, colors and size.

The shirts look great and some are very funny.  For example, one has Mr. Bean holding a sign that says “bean?” and he has his thumb out, signaling for a ride.  Another has the famous “I love bean” with a
heart symbol.  A bright red shirt has Mr. Bean’s face on the front with the phrase “VIVA LA BEAN”.  Definitely something you want to show off to your fellow Mr. Bean followers.

Wendy’s T-shirt contest

New York City, one of the greatest places in the world to kick off a contest.  During Wendy’s Investor Day, a huge billboard ad was displayed over the middle of Times Sqaure encouraging people to check out their Facebook page and see their new t-shirt design contest.

The person who “likes” their Facebook page and designs the t-shirt with the most “likes” by fellow fans on Facebook will win $5,000 and get their t-shirt sold on the Wendy’s online store.  Second place will receive free Wendy’s for a year and 10 t-shirts with their design on it.  Third place will win 10 t-shirts with their design.  Even if you just vote, you have a chance to win one of twenty $50 gift cards to Wendy’s that will be given while the contest is going on.

All the earnings from the sales of this tee will go to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.  Not only is there a huge chance to win an easy $5,000, the person who wins is able to help adopted children have a better life.  Nobody loses in this contest.

One day after the contest was announced, 7,300 designs were submitted!  A lot of people must really love Wendy’s.  There’s lots of creative juices flowing to win that $5,000 prize so get your design on and give it a shot.  You could be the winner!  You’ll never know until you try and it’s free anyways, so what do you have to lose?

604Republic new designs

Darth Vadar!  Luke Skywalker!  The Force!  Any of this sound familiar?  Well, unless you’ve lived under a rock most of your life, you’ll know I’m talking about Star Wars.  One of the most popular movies and brands in history now has a new parody tee from 604Republic.  Not only that, but they also have a creative twist on the famous Star Trek series.

The Star Wars tee has a solid dark gray color with an image of Darth Vadar, the villain from the early Star Wars movies, eating breakfast using the force.  He uses his power to levitate orange juice out of it’s cup.  Another tee has asteroids with the Enterprise spaceship from the Star Trek series blasting them away.  It’s a black colored tee and the design has a very retro, old-school arcade game feel.  Looking at it almost makes you want to grab a controller and play a round.

The last of the new three designs by 604Republic is a parody (I think).  It has an image of an older man with the logo of “Heisenberg’s Mobile Cuisine” and a mobile trailer below.  Seems like your typical funny design and is pretty creative.  I wonder if it actually exists.  Maybe someone can do a search and post the link.

To conclude, these tees are definitely something different for the month of February.  Check them out, especially Darth Vadar.  May the force be with you.

Always One of A Kind

There’s a giveaway going on right now with Dr. Pepper right here.  The “Always One of a Kind” advertising campaign has really been pushing their cause with popular TV ads like the one with a huge celebration of people wearing T-shirts that show off one of their own personality traits that make them “one of a kind”.  You can order your own “Always one of a kind” tee from DrPepper.com and join the party.

These are great tees because they show off the originality of each individual.  Each person in the commercial rips off whatever shirt they had on to reveal the Dr. Pepper tee.  Some of the t-shirts say “I’m a One and Only”, “I’m a Momma’s boy” or “I’m a rock star”.  One of the last t-shirts says “I’m a Pepper” from a 1970s commercial.  Their director of marketing, Dave Fleming, stated that “Dr. Pepper has been around for 125 years and it’s time to celebrate.”

Check out their giveaway because you might win a big prize (worth up to $600).  All you have to do is scroll down on the webpage and follow the short directions on how to subscribe to a Twitter feed and that’s it.  The winner is pulled randomly and will be notified.

They are making a lot of noise with this, and you better believe they are to do all they can to spread the word, it’s been 125 years!
